Sevilla April’s Fair
The Fair begins the night of the “alumbrao”, inaugural moment in which the lights of the fairgrounds are turned on. Also this night the traditional “pescaíto frito” (fried fish) is tasted in the “casetas”. After a week of constant partying, the Fair concludes with a great fireworks display along the Guadalquivir River. The Feria is like a small and decorated city. An ephemeral world where the houses are casetas, the lighting is achieved with lanterns and all the streets are named after legendary bullfighters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWWoJidME54
Venue: Santa Maria Magdalena Royal Church, Sevilla
Within its walls resided the first seat of the Inquisition and a tombstone on its façade reminds us that Fray Bartolomé de las Casas was consecrated here as bishop of Chiapas in 1544. The artistic heritage that the Royal Parish of Santa María Magdalena treasures in its interior impresses for its richness and aesthetic qualification. The oldest architectural vestiges, from medieval times, are concentrated in the apse and in the chapel that preserves three formidable vaults.
