Altea International Band Festival
Between the sea and the mountains sits a little slice of paradise on the Costa Blanca. Altea is a peaceful seaside town where time seems to have stood still. The region of Valencia is famous for its numerous music bands. Every town, whether small or large, has its own music band. Young and old participate. Every December, the Altea International Band Contest has been held since 1949. Every year bands from all over the world gather in this corner of the Mediterranean to prove their worth and share friendship, musical knowledge and good times with other bands.
Zambomba Flamenca in Andalucia
The zambomba is a Christmas tradition whose origins are located in the neighbors’ courtyards where they shared food and songs with popular lyrics and clapping spontaneously. In the zambomba flamenca the Christmas carols come to life in their adaptations to the flamenco styles: bulerías, tangos, rumbas… The staging, the art and the passion of the gypsy families, who share the common feeling of the Christmas celebration, is a faithful reflection of an ancestral tradition that is renewed every year. Turron for Christmas
The origins of nougat in Spain came from the Arabs who inhabited the country from 711 to 1492. Possibly it was the Muslim people who introduced the custom of mixing nuts with honey in our lands for confectionery.
